Si bien existe cierta predisposici\u00f3n gen\u00e9tica, hay factores modificables que contribuyen a desarrollar una hipertensi\u00f3n, tales como el consumo de tabaco, el sedentarismo y una mala alimentaci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p>Mantener un peso saludable, realizar actividad f\u00edsica regularmente, dejar de fumar, reducir el consumo de alcohol y de sodio en nuestra alimentaci\u00f3n, todo ayuda a reducir la presi\u00f3n arterial.<\/p>\n<p>La dieta DASH (Enfoques Diet\u00e9ticos para Detener la Hipertensi\u00f3n, por sus siglas en ingl\u00e9s) es un plan de alimentaci\u00f3n que consiste en la reducci\u00f3n de sodio, grasas saturadas, colesterol y grasas totales a trav\u00e9s del aumento del consumo de frutas, verduras, legumbres y l\u00e1cteos bajos en grasas. Se caracteriza por ser rica en magnesio, calcio, potasio, prote\u00ednas y fibra.<\/p>\n<p>Este enfoque alimentario no presenta indicaciones de cantidades a seguir. Es una gu\u00eda en cuanto a la calidad de los alimentos para lograr reducir los valores de presi\u00f3n arterial.<\/p>\n<p>Lo positivo es que se puede optar por este estilo alimentario, aunque la persona no sea hipertensa y la pueden seguir todos los miembros de la familia e inclusive se recomienda para personas con diabetes porque es muy beneficiosa para evitar problemas cardiovasculares.<\/p>\n<p>La Asociaci\u00f3n Americana del Coraz\u00f3n, la Sociedad Argentina de Hipertensi\u00f3n Arterial, la Sociedad Americana de Diabetes, en sus gu\u00edas, las recomiendan como parte del tratamiento.<\/p>\n<p>El plan de alimentaci\u00f3n DASH incluye alimentos ricos en potasio, calcio y magnesio (minerales vinculados con la reducci\u00f3n de la hipertensi\u00f3n arterial), prote\u00ednas y fibras elementos necesarios para una buena salud del coraz\u00f3n. Tambi\u00e9n cuenta con cantidades reducidas de grasas saturadas, colesterol, dulces y carnes rojas.<\/p>\n<p>Los granos integrales, las frutas y vegetales frescos, los productos l\u00e1cteos reducidos en grasas, las carnes de pollo, pescado y frutas secas conforman la mayor parte del r\u00e9gimen alimentario, que puede adaptarse a los requerimientos cal\u00f3ricos de cada persona.<\/p>\n<p>Adem\u00e1s de la reducci\u00f3n de la presi\u00f3n arterial, el colesterol y el riesgo de sufrir enfermedades card\u00edacas, la p\u00e9rdida de peso y un mejor humor son otros efectos positivos relacionados con el r\u00e9gimen alimentario DASH.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Recomendaciones principales<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Consumir 2 porciones diarias de carnes magras, pescado y\/o huevo<\/li>\n<li>Reducir el consumo de carnes rojas y grasas saturadas<\/li>\n<li>Elegir l\u00e1cteos descremados o semi descremados<\/li>\n<li>Elegir, siempre que sea posible, aceite de oliva.<\/li>\n<li>Aumentar el consumo de cereales integrales, legumbres, frutas y verduras. Deben ser la base de la alimentaci\u00f3n diaria<\/li>\n<li>Evitar o reducir el consumo de alcohol<\/li>\n<li>Consumir agua mineral con bajo contenido de sodio<\/li>\n<li>Consumir nueces y semillas, entre 4 y 5 porciones por semana<\/li>\n<li>Restringir el consumo de dulces y az\u00facar<\/li>\n<li>Realizar ejercicio f\u00edsico diariamente<\/li>\n<li>Reducir el consumo de sal a menos de 4-6 g por d\u00eda.
